When I first started this blog, I entitled it, “The Red Onion – the adventures of a second-try student. The title still applies.
On Wednesday, October 7th, I was interviewed by a member of the UBC MBA admissions committee. Considering how much of our future was riding on this final interview, I was somewhat calm. A quick prayer and a realization that it was a significant thing to be interviewed, let alone accepted, was enough for me. it went smoothly. I returned to work confident that I had done all that I could to put myself at the best possible light throughout the application process. Bought a box of cookies (a la George) for the office to celebrate.
To my surprise, a few short hours hours later, the status site said that I had been accepted!
I have to admit that part of me had hoped to be accepted here. Why? Because I had left here on such poor circumstances and did not complete my B.ASc here. So now, I get another shot at UBC. In the immortal words of Inigo Montoya, “And this time, I will NOT fail.”
E is very excited as well. I think that this special opportunity has opened both of our eyes that anything is possible. The path is much, much more clearer for us now. Now all we need to do is walk through it, and walk through it well. What a wonderful support she is.
Anyway, the application is complete, the acceptance letter is sent and the deposit is paid. Come January, I will be a student at the UBC Sauder School of Business MBA program. Wish us luck!
